An Update on What Is Happening

Saturday night the world was stunned to learn about the death of Whitney Houston. What can you say about a woman who had a voice like hers? It was awe inspiring and she deserved all the accolades she received. However, I don't think she ever valued herself as much as she could or she would never have ruined her life with drugs and alcohol. All I can think is what a waste of a life hers was. Her voice was exceptional, so she should have been able to live a charmed life. Yet demons from her life were too much and she retreated into a haze. I saw the last performance she did a couple of nights ago and she had only a shell of a voice. Yet everyone still loved her and just the idea she came out and sang was enough for the crowd. There is a lot of speculation on the cause of her death. You can read about Whitney Houston's death on the various news media. She was beautiful and had a remarkable voice and she will be missed.

I haven't been able to post, because my life got really busy. February is a short month, but it seems to moving along like a snail. It is also packed full of things that are happening. First of all, my cover is on
YouGottaReadReviews for February. You can't vote yet, but you can go over and check it out. Mine is #5.
Voting begins on February 21st and continues until the 26th. I will be reminding you when voting starts.:)

The next thing is I am on Sylvia Browder's Blog for Women Entrepreneurs as a Featured Author. My interview goes into areas you might not have known about me. So you can go over and check it out. Here is a banner I will display on the sidebar from now on:

Next, I am joining the campaign for Rachel Harrie's blog and it should be fun. This is her fourth campaign and it is to build your platform as an author. I have no idea what to expect, but I am going to link you back to her blog so you can read it for yourself.:) It's free and easy to participate, so I am urging all of you to at least go and read about it. We are all looking for a way to build our platform online and here is an excellent opportunity. I am displaying the campaign badge here, but it will be moved to the sidebar.

Also, I am getting ready to unveil my book trailer for If I Could Be Like Jennifer Taylor. I've had it for awhile, but now I think I'm ready to let everyone see it. I will probably put it on here first and then put it on YouTube.

I started editing again, so that is taking up some time and I am tutoring twice a week. So in theory I should be able to edit earlier in the day and then go and tutor. But last week every day was filled up with real life activities for my family. Then on Friday after a very stressful week when I had to drive everyone all over the place, my daughter fell on her side in our kitchen. The floor is hard and she bruised herself so much she still can't straighten her leg. So on Friday she had to go to the ER and have an X-ray. They didn't find any break, so that was good. Then Saturday the hospital called and said she needed to have a CAT scan. They saw a shadow, which turned out to be the scar from her hip operation when she was younger. But at that time we weren't taking any chances. The scan was negative, thank goodness!!

So with all this happening it is difficult to actually write! I had hoped to have my second novel ready to be submitted, but that is taking a long time. I hope to be able to submit it in the spring. Oh, and I am also thinking of contributing to another poetry anthology. I would love to know what everyone who reads this blog is doing. So leave a comment and tell me about your writing plans. I will be doing a drawing for a free ebook of mine!!

Until the next time thank you to my new follower and as always thank you to the readers who continue to enjoy my meanderings.:) Have a great week and don't forget to leave a comment for a chance to get my free ebook!!

  1. Miss Houston's death was indeed sad. She was a troubled soul, not unlike Marilyn, Janis Joplin, and Winehouse. Tragic deaths, but I was still shocked that no mention of Etta James was made during the Emmy because she died at 74 from an illness. She was a huge influence to Joplin and Winehouse and Houston. I can't believe she was forgotten.

  3. Interesting blog you have going on here! Lots of stuff to see. I will have to come back when I have more time and catch up on what you've been doing.

I'm a fellow YA Campaigner dropping in to say, 'Hello!" My name on the List is My Withershins but, unfortunately, I have to post comments using Humpty Dumpty. For some reason, Blogspot doesn't like Word Press, even though that is an option. I've tried many times but my comments just won't post.

Anyway, Have a great Valentine's Day and happy blogging!

  16. I hear you about "life" getting in the way of writing time. But then I don't have to tell you that writers don't find time, they make time.
I'm a follower from the campaign.

  18. Tag! You're it! Your mission, should you decide to accept it is to copy the 11 questions at the bottom of my blog post titled 'Tagged, again, among other things', then 'Tag' 7 other bloggers, using 11 different questions that you want them to answer.

Since Blogpost probably won't let me comment using my Wordpress ID, you can go to my Humpty Dumpty blog and find the link to http:mywithershins.wordpress.com or copy this address into your browser. (I don't think it will automatically turn into a link.)

If you decide to play, hope you have fun!
